The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Second Season Bingo Cards — And She Has Positive Updates

The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been intense.

The first season introduces a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.

The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.

"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."

The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
