'People are intimidated' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now countless pundits' preferred choice to secure the Premier League this season.

Consider their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have beaten all of them during this campaign, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title target.

They stand first for clean sheets (6), shots let in (3), attempts against (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but opposition teams still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City on home turf - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their historic competitors face difficulties. This marks the initial occasion at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in quest of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the most resilient defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in each of their last three Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without conceding a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and analysts have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with belief and purpose.
